Mr. Suñiga is a Principal at Tricap Partners & Co. and has 20 years of experience in corporate finance and private equity for early-stage and middle market companies in the United States and Latin America. His background includes financial and corporate development advisory, sell-side and buy-side advisory, divestitures, management buyouts and private placements.
Prior to joining Tricap Partners & Co., Mr. Suñiga was a Principal with SphereInvest Americas, a Miami-based subadvisor of a European US$100 million private equity fund of SphereInvest Group (formerly an alternative assets fund of London-based Millennium Global). The fund focused on undervalued assets throughout the Americas: agribusiness (Brazil), polymetallic mine (Peru), commercial real estate (Argentina), and graphite mine recommissioning (Canada).
Mr. Suñiga’s investment banking experience is with two major US banks. At Banc of America Securities LLC (New York City and Miami offices), he was a Senior Associate that formed part of execution team covering various countries representing a broad range of clients (power, insurance, broadband, auto parts, wine and spirits). There he participated in valuation, due diligence, drafting of marketing materials, deal structuring and negotiations. Mr. Suñiga’s advisory career began in 1997 as an Analyst with Salomon Brothers’ Latin America Investment Banking Group based in New York City. At Salomon, Mr. Suñiga formed part of teams that worked mostly on sell-side mandates across various industry sectors, including: telecom, broadcast, oil and gas, PVC products, cement and mining. In between his investment banking roles, he was a Director with turnaround advisory firm Huron Consulting Group focused on sell-side and financial restructuring mandates.
He earned a BS in Economics with an additional concentration in Political Science from the University of Pennsylvania. Mr. Suñiga is bilingual in Spanish and conversational in Portuguese.
